I’m pretty sure the last thing I tried, the one in the picture, was some sort of octopus. Either that or some alien being that had been skewered and roasted. Prior to that, we had tried a few things that, despite the vendor’s attestations that it was chicken, had the texture and flavor of no meat we’d consumed before. We tried a lot of different offerings from several different vendors, but I think my favorite was that little octopus on a stick. This was the last food cart of the night and seems as though we saved the best for last. The finishing sauce on it was spicy, slightly flammable and as delicious as it was scary. The passion, creativity and perhaps the hospitality of Thai people is so well captured in its street food. I think we enjoyed the Phuket street food quite a bit more than we did in Bangkok. It was a real joy to have been able to enjoy this experience.
